Q. Where did my download list go, all I see is Download Manager bar with a blank space below it?
A. The Download Manager list is collapsed, just click on the Download Manager bar on the left again to display the list.

Q. Ok, I see my list, but it's always empty, even while downloading, where's the list?
A. Earlier versions of DLM 4.0 corrupted the download list, to repair the list, select Remove orphans from list from the File menu, then close and reopen the program

Q. On Linux I'm getting an error "/lib/tls/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.4' not found", how can I fix this?
A. We are trying to build a new Linux environment that support glibc 2.3.x, so for the time being the minimum requirement is glibc 2.4, please try upgrading your Linux distro if possible.

Q. How do I install the eMusic DLM on my Mac
A. The installer has been removed with Alpha 3, just copy the eMusic Download Manager icon to your Applications folder.

Q. Which download should I get for my Mac?
A. For best performance install the one that is specific to your computer, to check if you have a PowerPC Mac or an Intel Mac just:
- click on the Apple menu on the top left of your desktop
- select About this Mac
- read the "Processor" information

If all else fails just download and install the Universal bundle

Q. What is eMusic DLM 4.0 built with?
A. DLM 4.0 is using the Mozilla XULRunner core code and is based on the 1.8 Branch of the source code.

Q. Will DLM 4.0 support extensions and themes?
A. Oh yes, some have been released and many more to come: http://developer.emusic.com/dlm/addons

Q. Does DLM 4.0 work with Vista, Linux?
A. Yes, DLM 4.0 has been tested to work with Windows 98 SE, NT 4.0, 2000, XP and Vista. As well as Mac OS X (Intel & PPC), Ubuntu, Xubuntu, Fedora, Mandriva with KDE and Gnome interfaces.

Q. Can I run DLM 3.0 & 4.0 at the same time?
A. For Windows users DLM 4.0 will work adjacent to DLM 3.0, this will probably change in the future. If you want to reuse DLM 3.0 as your default just uninstall DLM 4.0 and relaunch 3.0 and it will become the default downloader again.
For Mac users DLM 4.0 will REPLACE your existing version of DLM 3.0 and settings are currently NOT imported.

Q. Why isn't Flash working within DLM 4.0?
A. Flash many not be recognized properly thus requiring it be reinstalled. Download below:

Q. Are there keyboard navigation keys?
A. Yes, here are some additional key bindings:

alt-home load the homepage
F5 will reload page
ctrl-click on downloaded file will open it's folder (Command-click for Mac's)
alt-left/right arrows back and forward web navigation
Command-[ ] brackets back and forward web navigation (alt-[ ] brackets on Windows/Linux)
backspace/shift-backspace back and forward web navigation
ctrl/command-k
focus search field
ctrl/command-f focus search field

Q. Why am I getting the following error: "warning: unresponsive script"?
A. This issue has been solved with Alpha 3.

Q. Why are samples streamed with iTunes?
A. Currently this is manually selectable and you can change this by selecting the Manage button in the Content tab from the Tools|Options menu, then select a new program to handle the m3u extension. (Edit|Preferences for Linux users and Application Preferences for Mac)

Q. Why doesn't the 'My eMusic' button work on Linux?
A. This feature does not work on all Linux implementations

Q. How can I change /usr/bin/totem as my sample player on Linux?
A. To change the default media player go to Tools|about:config and change the path & application in the "eMusic.defaultMediaPlayer" setting

Q. Why are active downloads aborted and re-queued for download when reselecting them?
A. To avoid past issues with duplicate file clutter and temporary path issues, files are saved to the exact directory and filename that they will live. If you allow the download to finish it will complete. Future versions may de-dupe active downloads.


Download Manager 3.0 Functionality:

Q. Will my DLM 3.0 settings get imported?
A. For Windows users, yes, all will be imported, check Tools|Options for more configuration options. Mac users will have to reselect there settings manually, future versions may resolve this for Mac users.

Q. What happened to View by Album?
A. The Listview by Album is not implemented yet, a future release will include this

Q. Why can't I reorder the filename tags by dragging and dropping the filename tags?
A. This has been implemented with Alpha 3


Application Updates:

Q. Why don't auto-updates work on Mac and Linux?
A. Mac and Linux installers don't set file/folder properties correctly, should be resolved very soon

Q. How do I remove my eMusic DLM profile and settings?
A. The eMusic DLM 4.0 profile directories can be removed manually, check below here for platform specific paths:
This data is stored in your profile folder, which is located in one of the following locations depending on your operating system:

Windows 2000, XP Documents and Settings\<UserName>\Application Data\eMusic
Windows NT WINNT\Profiles\<UserName>\Application Data\eMusic
Windows 98, ME Windows\Application Data\eMusic\
Mac OS X ~/Library/Application Support/eMusic Download Manager
Linux and Unix systems ~/.emusic

Q. How do I install Flash player on Linux
A. For universal Mozilla support you can also opt to install the plugin in the following directory and skip step 3:
~/.mozilla/plugins

1) download Flash 9 here:
http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayerlinux

2) run flashplayer-installer and follow prompts

3) when prompted for application directory and you used the installer:
/usr/bin/emusic_dlm/xulrunner *

* Note: the plugin will be installed into the /usr/bin/emusic_dlm/xulrunner/plugins directory.
